Description
We are living in a critical moment in our nation's history. Now is the time for Latinos to stand united, stay focused, and harness the power that is ours.
When we gather in May in Sacramento we can take pride that California has been a national leader in standing up against hate and intolerance. We can also take pride in the fact that Latinos hold top elected positions in our state government. To keynote this year's Summit, we've invited Xavier Beccera, the first Latino Attorney General of California.
We know that we all must keep working together to both safeguard and strengthen our communities. As the last election unveiled, we must continue to build our political power and create avenues for economic mobility. To do so we must focus on our youth--Latino Millennials will be more than half of the eligible voting age population in a few short years. Likewise, as we continue to defend our communities, we must also actively work on an agenda that both builds our economic power and prepares more Latino youth for high-paying jobs of the 21st century.
At 2:30 pm, we will transition into the Afternoon of Action at the Capitol (two legislative visits).
When you register you will be asked if you want to opt out. Please let us know if you cannot attend the legislative, meet and greet sessions.*When you register, you will be asked to include your State Assembly Member and your State Senator. After the Legislative Visits, all Summit attendees are invited to the Latino Leadership Reception at Cafeteria 15L at 5 pm.
